“Cross Modular” is a series of tessellated compositions resulting from the use of a single cruciform module. The module itself, based upon the ubiquitous Latin cross, has been idealized here in a different way - this time through careful consideration of its geometric proportions. Six perfect squares joined together comprise the overall shape, blurring the boundaries between sacred symbol and empty polygon. The module is then copied, rotated, and reflected, becoming less significant with each reiteration. The compositions minimize the cross, reducing it to a piece of a larger and more dynamic entity.
